The East Atlanta Community Association (EACA) and the East Atlanta Parents Network are proud to host our spooky tradition, EAVoween, a trick-or-treating event in East Atlanta Village. This year’s event will be on the last Saturday of October (October 29), not on Halloween. Villagers should be prepared to have trick or treaters at their houses on Monday. As always, this event is free and open to the public.
EAVoween kicks off at 5:00pm at the Farmers Market on Flat Shoals with a costume contest featuring prizes for age divisions 0-3 years, 4-7 years, and 8 years and up. Prizes will be awarded for best group and most original costume. Trick-or-treating in the village will begin at 6:30pm and last until the candy is gone. A conservative estimate, based on last year’s event, is that almost $3,500 in candy was given away. The evening will wrap up with not-so-scary movies and s’mores back at the Farmer’s Market at 8:00pm, or when the trick-or-treating is done. The movie is sponsored by the ever generous Nate Minor at ScreenFixing.com.
EACA also will open their costume boutique every Thursday in October at the Farmer’s Market from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and on October 29 (the day of the event, also at the Farmer’s Market), from 2:00pm to 5:00pm, or by appointment for anyone needing to be decked out for the holiday. Donations are needed for the following items: candy, new and gently used Halloween costumes and costume pieces (hats, masks, props, etc.) in all sizes. Donations can be dropped off at Joe’s Coffee, ScreenFixing.com, or Burgess Peterson Academy during their normal business hours.
EACA is looking forward to seeing all the ghouls and goblins come out and have a SCREAMING good time! Come early and have a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants in the village and stay to see the movies.
