May at Oakland Cemetery: Hot Fun in the (Almost) Summer Time

By Kristy Gomez, Historic Oakland Foundation

It’s not quite summer, but we’re turning up the heat at Oakland Cemetery this month. Did you know the Historic Oakland Foundation is a Gen X-er? In June, we’re celebrating 50 years of the organization dedicated to preserving, restoring, enhancing, and sharing your favorite 176-year-old Cemetery and park with the public. We kick-off the celebration on the week of June 1 with Five Days of Service – a special week dedicated to giving back to Oakland.

Then in September, we head to the Oakland grounds to celebrate with our Golden Jubilee Picnic. Whether your style is Victorian picnic or cemetery chic, this is your chance to design a picnic table and table setting of your own creation. Purchase a table, decorate it with a celebratory theme, and show your love for all things Oakland. Learn more about the celebration at www.oaklandcemetery.com/50thcelebration.
