School’s Out; What’s a Parent to Do?

By Jean Hallman
Most people probably never think much about the school system’s calendar until they have children. So what do working parents do when school is out? Ask around and you will be surprised by the amount of anxiety the words “school’s out” create.
Many people are lucky to have family that can help with kids on the days school is closed, while parents head to work. That could be how life should flow in a perfect world. The reality is that many others don’t have family to step in and help. What do parents without family to help do? Many take vacation time. Others hire sitters, take kids to work, and many take advantage of local day camps.
If you are looking for a local day camp option this summer, Kids Dance 411 is offering a Summer Dance and Acting Camp from May 29 through August 3. Camp ages range from 5-13. Sessions are held daily from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Extended Care is available until 6:00pm.
Each week has a different theme such as Fun in the Sun and Feel the Rhythm. Camp is designed to help students enhance their creative skills and become well-rounded performers. Instruction is based on skill level and beginners to advanced performers are welcome. “Our groups have a student teacher ratio of 12:1,” said Samara Michelle, camp director at Dance 411 Studios. “Our qualified instructors and assistants service an average of 80 campers per week.”
