EACA Meeting Minutes – Tuesday, May 12, 2026

The meeting was called to order at 7 p.m. (NO VIRTUAL OPTION); started the meeting recording. April 14, 2026, meeting minutes – APPROVED. April 2026 treasurer’s report – APPROVED.

Elected Officials’ Reports 

Council Member Bakhtiari’s Office – Jacob Pierce (he/him), District Director, Atlanta City Council District 5, 470-543-6221, jpierce@atlantaga.gov. Jacob heard public comments and reminded everyone of Coffee with the Council Member this Sunday, May 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Park Grounds in Reynoldstown.

Dekalb Commissioner Nicole Massiah’s Office – Isaac White, 470-596-4017. Contact with any issues, questions or matters that need addressing by the Commissioner.

Arts and Culture Report, Jessica Dodd and Megan Daly: The Pushing Up-Daisies Garden Tour and Concert was a HUGE SUCCESS – OVER 550 tix sold!

East Atlanta Parents Network Report, Lexi Martin: EAPN Spring Fling – May 17, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Farmers Market

Community Q/A with School Board Member Ken Zeff and Joanne Francis Wyckoff (Director of Early Learning), Hosted by EACA Ken and Joanne heard public comment about the lack of accessible Pre-K for BPA-slated students, with only 20 slots available. Ken also heard comments about TADs and the utilization of space, closure of buildings, etc.

Community Announcements/Discussions 

New Intown Cares Case Manager was introduced. Ryan Johnston, office hours Tuesday thru Friday 9 a.m. to 12 pm; other days will be in the field. 404-455-9997, ryan.johnston@intowncares.org.

Candidates for Dekalb County Commissioner also spoke. Keyanna Jones Moore, Tommy Travis, representatives from Ted Terry’s office.

Margaret Spalding with South River Watershed Alliance asked neighbors to request for the upcoming virtual town hall for Intrenchment Creek Park to be made in-person to allow for public comment. Email LCJohnson@dekalbcountyga.gov or zlwilliams@dekalbcountyga.gov to ask her to make the meeting on Wednesday, May 20 at 6:00 p.m. accessible IN PERSON.

The EACA meeting was closed with a cookout in the Brownwood Park pavilion.
