A  Village of Parents

By Carlen Ruth Hultgren

They say it takes a Village, so why not join the East Atlanta Parents Network (EAPN) in your Village?  The organization strives to build a supportive, welcoming, and fun community among the families in East Atlanta. The many sponsored events for parents and children include seasonal festivals, family happy hours, and other events. As a core pillar of the East Atlanta Community Association, EAPN partners heavily with local businesses and other non-profits to further their mission of community engagement.

A cookout and potluck will take place at Brownwood Park on March 19 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. Kick off spring the right way by grilling and enjoying the beautiful warm weather. EAPN will bring meat dishes and they ask that you bring a side dish to share.

On March 27,  joins other parents and their kids at Midway Pub.  Bring the kids and share a toast to the minivan you never thought you’d buy.  Commiserating begins at 5:30pm.

April 1, the Easter Egg Hunt at Brownwood Park returns.   The hunt is by age group with the littlest babies-birth through 2 years starting at 9:30am, then toddlers, 2-4 years, at 10:15am, kids aged 5-7 at 10:45am, and finally the older kids, 8 and up, at 11:15am. Egg hunt donations are still needed as well as your help to fill the eggs for the event.  Please bring plastic eggs (stuffed or not), and candy/small toy donations to 1668 Grace St. SE. Leave all donations on the porch no later than March 28, and please no chocolate.

And finally, the Spring Fling, Field Day Edition, will take place at 3:00pm on May 20, at Brownwood Park.  This is the first BIG event of the season. There will have music, vendors, fun filled stations, and of course, free alcohol for the adults.

You can find out more information about events and the organization on Facebook at www.facebook.com/EAPNet or Instagram @EAVParents.
