Cub Scout Pack 688 will kick off a new scouting year on Sunday, August 2, with an open house from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the third-floor gymnasium at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Grant Park. Families interested in learning more about Scouting are invited to stop by to meet current Scouts and leaders and see what Pack 688 has to offer.
Cub Scouting encourages youth to try new things, explore the outdoors, serve their community, develop leadership skills, and build friendships. The program is open to both boys and girls from kindergarten through fifth grade, and children may join at any age.
Throughout the year, Scouts participate in monthly pack meetings, grade-level den activities, camping trips, hikes, service projects, Pinewood Derby races, and other family-friendly adventures. Dens typically meet one or two Sunday afternoons each month, while the entire Pack gathers monthly for larger activities and celebrations.
Pack 688 primarily serves families in Grant Park, Ormewood Park, Summerhill, East Atlanta, and surrounding neighborhoods, though there are no formal residency restrictions. As a family-centered program, parents are expected to attend activities with their Scout and contribute through volunteering and leadership.
