Stemming from sentiments raised during racially charged events on the national and local stages this summer, a group of Ormewood Park neighbors organized a three-part film series with the hopes of providing a space for thoughtful conversations and questions around race and socioeconomic inequality.
“Moving Pictures” as the series is titled, features three films:
- 13th (September 16)
- The Pruitt-Igoe Myth (Friday, October 6)
- I Am Not Your Negro (Friday, November 10)
The films are free and shown in the fellowship hall of Ormewood Church, located at 1071 Delaware Avenue. Doors open at 6:30pm, and films begin at 7:00pm. After the films will be small-group discussions for those interested. Childcare is available (please RSVP for childcare).
All neighbors, friends, and viewpoints are invited, with the hope that viewing and discussing these films contributes to the larger southeast Atlanta conversation on racial justice and equality.
While Ormewood Church supports the film series, those involved in the planning are both church participants and neighbors unaffiliated with Ormewood Church.
