Recent Burglary Incidents

By the Grant Park Security Patrol

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, burglaries in the neighborhood have been very low.

Unfortunately in the past four weeks, there has been a cluster of daytime burglaries in the southwest corner of Grant Park. Houses on Woodson Street, Hill Street, Bass Street, and Augusta Avenue have been targeted. There might have been a couple others, and the Grant Park Security Patrol (GPSP) has contacted the Zone 6 precinct of the Atlanta Police Department to get more information. There has been a change of command staff, so communication between the GPSP and Zone 6 has been interrupted. At two houses, it looks like a tool such as a crowbar was used to pry open a door and a window at the back of the houses. These incidents occurred in the early afternoon. Jewelry was taken.

An investigator has been assigned and he is reviewing video from the area. The GPSP will share the description of a suspect as soon as it has more details.

The GPSP has some reserve funds and is actively searching for an officer to supplement patrols in the early afternoon.

Safety Reminders

Please call 911 if you see anyone suspicious especially in the backyards.

Activate your home alarm.

Please check your console and remove spare keys. Since that Sunday morning in December last year, crimes involving vehicle break-ins have dropped to a low level.

Secure the doors at the front and back of your house if you are working in the yard.

Please report malfunctioning street lights that are cycling or are burned out. The Georgia Power web site has a link for reporting the lights on wooden poles. The city maintains the lights on metal poles and those can be reported to 311.

Check the status of your alarm registration. The city should be sending you a reminder when it is time to update.

Update your inventory of valuables. Record any serial numbers and take photos of valuable items in your home such as electronics or jewelry..
