Given the neighborhood discussion of the future of Trestletree Village Apartments, it is important to keep in mind the cost of rental housing in our neighborhood.
It takes a good income to rent apartments in the Porch Press area. The recent annual report from the Low Income Housing Coalition says it takes an hourly wage of $36.15 to rent a two bedroom unit in zip code 30316 (Ormewood Park and East Atlanta). It takes $41.35 for the same unit in 30312 (Grant Park). The numbers are based on using 30% of your income for rent. Our neighborhoods are not far behind the $48.46 needed for the same rental in New York state. More details from the study can be requested by sending an email to outreach@nlihc.net.
