Community Announcements/Discussions
This portion of the meeting is reserved for neighbors to briefly raise community concerns or share announcements relevant to East Atlanta. Speakers will have 1–2 minutes to make a quick announcement or flag an issue they believe the community should be aware of. This is not intended to be an open-ended discussion period, and follow-up conversation may be limited or moderated at the President’s discretion based on available time. If a topic requires deeper discussion, it may be tabled for a future meeting or referred to the appropriate committee. We are trying this as an experiment to give neighbors a chance to raise issues while still keeping the meeting moving, so please keep remarks concise and be respectful of everyone’s time. Email President@eaca.net the weekend before the EACA Meeting to be considered for addition to the agenda.
Current Requests: Steve Carr presented some 2026 calendars as well as booklets on Georgia Open Records.

East Atlanta Community Updates Meeting: During the meeting, several candidates introduced themselves, including Nicole Horn for House District 90, Howard Mosby for the same seat, and others running for DeKalb County Commissioner District 3. The Land Use Committee was reintroduced with Charlie Fee as the new chair, who outlined plans to assess current procedures and create Zoning 101 guides. Updates were shared on community initiatives, including the East Atlanta Parents Network’s upcoming prom fundraiser and Easter egg hunt, as well as In Town Cares’ ongoing work with homelessness support and case management. The Zone 6 police representative reported a 22% decrease in crime and addressed concerns about HVAC unit thefts, while the membership committee shared updates on membership drives and new initiatives like a WhatsApp group for members.
