Zombies, Superheroes, Ghouls, and Minions Return to EAV

By Carlen Ruth Hultgren
The East Atlanta Community Association (EACA) and the East Atlanta Parents Network (EAPN) are proud to once again host the spooky East Atlanta tradition, EAVoween, a trick-or-treating event, held every year in the heart of East Atlanta Village. This year’s event will be on Saturday, October 29. As always, this event is free and open to the public.
EAVoween kicks off at 5:00pm at the Farmers Market, located at 572 Stokeswood Avenue, with a costume contest featuring prizes for different age divisions: 0-3 years, 4-7 years, and 8 years and up, as well as best group and most original costume. Trick-or-Treating around the village begins at 6:30pm, until the candy is gone. Conservative estimates for last year’s event had nearly $3,500 in candy given away! The evening will wrap up with “Not-so-Scary Movies and S’mores” back at the Farmer’s Market at 8:00pm, sponsored by local and generous business owner, Nate Minor at ScreenFixing.com.
EACA will also open its costume boutique every Thursday in October at the Farmers Market from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and on Monday, October 29 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm, or by appointment for anyone needing some finery or foolery for the event and the holiday. Donations of candy, new and gently used Halloween costumes, and costume pieces (including hats, masks, and props) in all sizes may be dropped off at Joe’s Coffee, ScreenFixing.com, or Burgess Peterson Academy during normal business hours.
Once again East Atlanta Village looks forward to another local and inclusive event for all the neighbors to enjoy and share with one another. The event is sponsored by and put together by hardworking volunteers; just another reason to love this place where we live.
Come early and have a bite to eat at one of the many wonderful restaurants in the village and stay to see the movies. For questions, contact Jeanne Fore at artsculture@eaca.net.
