Project G.R.A.N.T. Update

By Grant Park Conservancy Staff

Fall is here, and it’s time to re-engage with our volunteer base. We have missed working with volunteers at our Project G.R.A.N.T. (Greenspace Restoration and Neighborhood Teamwork) work days, which were canceled in March because of the COVID-19 pandemic. But we have come up with a safe plan to get our volunteers back in the park and can’t wait to start working outside again.

As members, we wanted to first give you the opportunity to sign up and pitch in for your community park. Join a small group of volunteers as we tackle projects such as trash pickup, limb removal, mulching, and other simple maintenance and beautification tasks. Sign up today before all the spots are filled. Read more about volunteer safety precautions and requirements at gpconservancy.org/events-programs/volunteer-work-days and register for a work day.

Grant Park has always played an important role in our community and that couldn’t be more apparent given our current situation. Even during these challenging times, the Grant Park Conservancy team is working hard to ensure that the park continues to serve as an oasis of greenspace where folks can take a break from sheltering in place and get some fresh air and (socially distant) exercise. Our greenspace maintenance and historic restoration projects are still moving forward. We are gearing up for the next Summer Shade unFestival, and continue developing plans for other restoration projects in the park. We still need your help. The good news is, you don’t have to leave your house to donate AND you can give us an extra boost when you shop online! For more information, go to gpconservancy.org.
