Last Call for Strut Volunteers

By Carlen Hultgren
Did you know the East Atlanta Village (EAV) Strut is totally run by volunteers, working throughout the year and on Strut day to bring you a great neighborhood festival? In case you did not, the Strut is a not-for-profit 501(c) (3) with the mission of showing off East Atlanta as a great place to live, work, and play. The Strut also supports other neighborhood nonprofits. A minimum of 200 volunteers are needed in a wide range of areas throughout the day. Even at this last minute, we are looking for more.
Volunteers receive the delightful and collectible Strut T-shirts, a free wristband, and access to the volunteer VIP area, which will be hosted by the Union on Flat Shoals this year. There will be free food and drinks for all volunteers at the Union during the volunteer shifts (about 10:00am to 6:00pm)
People are needed in all areas. Here is a breakdown so you can see where you might fit in:
Parade: 40 volunteers, 12:00pm-4:00pm
Adult Game Area: 11:00am-10:00pm (4-hour shifts)
Artist Market: 8:30am-10:30am
Kid’s Area: 10:00am-2:00 pm or 2:00pm-6:00pm
Parking Lots: 11:00am-7:00pm (2 hour shifts)
VIP area runners: 3 volunteers 10:00am-1:00pm, 1:00pm-4:00pm, and 4:00pm-7:00pm (1 per shift for 3 shifts)
Info booth: 3 volunteers 10:00am-1:00 pm, 1:00pm-4:00pm, and 4:00pm-7:00pm (1 per shift for 3 shifts)
Wristband sales: 16 volunteers 10:30am-6:30pm (2-hour shifts)
Volunteers do not have to work the whole day. There are several areas and many time slots, so you can both volunteer and enjoy the Strut with friends and family. Get involved, help out your friends and neighbors, and show everyone that East Atlanta is a great place to live.
Time is of the essence. The festival is in a few days. For more information, please go to the website at www.eastatlantastrut.com, or contact Michelle Rice at EAVStrut@gmail.com.
