D’AIR Aerial Dance Company Show Features Jungle Boogie Crew

By Nicole Mermans
D’AIR Aerial Dance Company, featuring the Jungle Boogie Dance Crew, presents “Universal Remote.” The production expands on D’AIR’s “Locus of Control” that debuted in “Exposed” at 7 Stages in 2014. The critically acclaimed aerial dance company paired with Jungle Boogie dance crew members, best known for their appearance on season five of America’s Best Dance Crew and for their southern “Crunk” style, is guaranteed to deliver an entertaining over-the-top show. The dancers take a light-hearted approach to examining issues of control.
When an alien spaceship malfunctions and lands on the outskirts of an American urban city, the humanoids unintentionally teach the earthlings a few lessons that force them to face some of their biggest fears. This show seamlessly shifts between the land and air as dancers take flight. Both companies are known for their athletic prowess, theatrical style, and unique storytelling abilities. Together they are a force to be reckoned with. Don’t miss your chance to see this most unique merging of dance styles and talents as never been seen before in the Atlanta area dance scene.
The show will be performed at the D’AIR Theater at 575 Boulevard on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, October 23 through 25. Show time on Friday and Saturday is 8:00pm. Sunday’s show will begin at 6:00pm. Admission is $25 for adults and $20 for students.
D’AIR is a 501(c)3 nonprofit community arts organization with a profound mission to enrich the community by creating and presenting artistically innovative works of aerial dance theater and fostering positive youth development through movement arts and cultural education. The performers help deliver D’AIR’s dual mission to the community at large by not only presenting exemplary works of aerial dance theater, but also by acting as mentors to the youth and teens in its after-school program. They use aerial dance as a tool to empower these youth with valuable life skills that will translate into fostering confident, self-aware, physically fit, and compassionate young adults. Funding for this program is provided by the Fulton County Board of Commissioners.
