Every summer, foodies flock to the neighborhood during the Grant Park Summer Shade Festival to enjoy Corks & Forks: A Fine Food & Wine Event. This afternoon smorgasbord offers up seasonal fare from the city’s top chefs, cooking demonstrations, a chef grill-off, and educational wine tastings. Tickets to Corks & Forks are available in advance or on site.
Some of the delectable restaurants taking part in Corks & Forks this year are: Bhojanic, Briza, Cake Hag, Campagnolo, Commerce Club, Graveyard Tavern, Livingston Restaurant + Bar, The Melting Pot, Pasta Da Pulcinella, PEASANT bistro, Serpas, Six Feet Under, SOHO, Spice Market, Sun Dial Restaurant & View, Sweet Georgia’s Juke Joint, and Trader Vic’s. These chefs will bring some of their favorite summer recipes to the park and guests get to vote for their top choice each day.
In addition to trying plenty of amazing bites, Corks & Forks attendees will also sample sips from Worthwhile Wines, Savida Sangria, New Belgium Beer, and Wild Heaven Craft Beers. Properly sated, guests can then grab a seat to watch cooking demonstrations courtesy of Viking Store and Cooking School. Topics include cool recipes like Smoked Salmon with Crème Fraiche, Edamame Hummus in Wonton Cups, Shrimp Ceviche Style, and Eggplant and Vegetable Terrine. Back for the second year, the chef grill-off puts three local grill masters to the test with a big piece of protein from White Oaks Pasture.
Corks & Forks thanks Builder Specialties for the use of the huge outdoor grill. With assistance from Le Cordon Bleu student volunteers all weekend, Corks & Forks will once again prove to be a delicious way to close out the summer.
Corks & Forks takes place during the Grant Park Summer Shade Festival on Saturday and Sunday, August 25 and 26, from 1:00 to 5:00pm, at the pavilions. All-inclusive tickets and information are available at www.summershadefestival.org.
