Taquerias & Tequila at the Summer Shade Festival

By Carrie Whitney

The Grant Park Summer Shade Festival has announced the addition of the Taquerias & Tequila event, which will be held Saturday and Sunday afternoons during the festival. A new concept highlighting restaurants and chefs showing off their Tex Mex skills, Taquerias & Tequila will offer a chance to expand your spice palate and wash it down with your new favorite tequila.
This all-inclusive ticketed event features tequila and beer sampling, mild to picante fare, plenty of seating and private bathrooms. Perhaps best of all, piñatas filled with great prizes and probably lots of candy will be hanging and ready for your best swing. Tequila drinking and piñata smacking might be the perfect combination.
Not all chefs specialize in Mexican fare, so you’ll get a fun sampling of some fusion recipes too. Onsite, you’ll find restaurants like Alma, El Taco, Johnny Rockets, Six Feet Under, The Melting Pot, Tin Lizzy’s, Twisted Taco and Uncle Maddios Pizza. The Grant Park Summer Shade Festival is partnering with the Georgia Restaurant Association on this event, so additional restaurants are expected to join the festivities.
Taquerias & Tequila takes place Saturday, August 23 and Sunday, August 24 from 1 to 5 pm. Different restaurants will participate each day, so attend all weekend if you can handle it. Proceeds from Taquerias & Tequila benefit the Grant Park Conservancy, and tickets are on sale now. Visit www.summershade.org for tickets and information.
