On Saturday September 20 from 3:00pm until 5:00pm, the Friends of East Atlanta Library are having an artist reception for Joy Hartsfield featuring a showing of her work. The artist will be demonstrating creative brushwork as well as inviting attendees to join in the fun and relaxation that art can bring. Her art, which will also be on display, features animals, insects, and expressive brushstrokes and shapes in an array of drawn, painted, and collage work. The colors range from vibrant to soft and delicate. Ms. Hartsfield is known in Atlanta for her unusual art work as well as her famous uncle, Mayor William B. Hartsfield. Refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public. Ms. Hartsfield’s work will be on display on the library’s gallery wall through October 15 during library hours. The East Atlanta Library, a branch of the Atlanta Fulton Library System, is located at 400 Flat Shoals Avenue at the McPherson Roundabout.
