Celebrated motivational speaker and author, Robert Little, was the featured speaker at Benteen Elementary’s annual fall Accelerated Reader Kick-Off Rally. He shared some dynamic ways students can unleash their energy and dreaming power to become whatever they want to be in life.
Mr. Little has four children’s picture books that are used in schools nationwide for the Accelerated Reader (AR) program. The titles are FUN DAY in Mrs. Walker’s Class, What CAN I Be, Jamaal’s Lucky Day, and Grandma’s Biscuits. Grades 1-5 attended the program and were motivated by his fiery message: “Dream big and you can be what you want to be.”
Benteen’s interim principal, Dr. Vonda McKeever, welcomed this message because it coincided with the school’s message – Elevating Excellence. This year’s top AR student will win books and the coveted Apple iPad2. Benteen’s theme for the 2011-2012 AR program is, Get Caught Reading.
