Enjoy one of the best traditions of autumn, right in our own backyard. Paint a pumpkin, ride a pony, or sit back, relax, and listen to our neighborhood’s favorite musical acts at the Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School’s Fall Festival.
On Saturday, October 19, the school will host a traditional fall festival with pony rides, harvest-style crafts and games, food, live music, and activities to celebrate the season. Held on the school grounds of Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School’s elementary school campus at 688 Grant Street, the festival will take place from 12:00pm to 3:00pm.
DJ Amy Handler of AM 1690’s The Kids Are Alright radio show will spin tunes and emcee games including a cupcake walk. Live entertainment will include local favorites Hair of the Dog, Jimmy Galloway, and Claire Pearson Perry.
Proceeds of the festival support the Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School’s Annual Fund. The school needs to raise at least $400 per student through the yearly fundraising efforts to continue to provide the same student-teacher ratios, art, music, and physical education programs that are important parts of the school’s curriculum.
“We are grateful for parents and neighbors who support our school. This is a fun way to make a contribution and support our school and neighborhood children,” said Lara Zelski, principal of the Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School Elementary Campus.
Event sponsors already on board for this year’s event include: Art Attack, District 1 Representative Carla Smith, Garden*Hood, Grant Park Coffeehouse, Grant Park Parents Network, Holcomb Insurance Service, Intown Healthy Hound, SEACS, Seed Tree Music, and Zoo Atlanta.
“The school needs and appreciates sponsors who help to make the event a success and raise more money for the school,” said Ashley Miller, chair of the festival.
