On October 7, the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of Parkside Elementary School, which serves the five neighborhoods of Grant Park, Summerhill, Boulevard Heights, Ormewood Park and Cabbagetown, will welcome families, friends, and neighbors to its inaugural movie night on the school grounds. For the Parkside Screen on the Green, the PTA will transform the school field area located on the left side of the school into an outdoor movie-watching venue on Wednesday, October 7, the last day before the Atlanta Public Schools (APS) fall break, and therefore not a school night.
Moviegoers can start gathering around 7:00pm, with a viewing of the movie starting promptly at 7:30pm. Admission will be $3 for adults, which includes one free child admission, and $1 for each additional child, with a maximum of $10 per family. Light concessions will be available for nominal fees.
“We have an amazing school yard with great spaces, so we thought this would be a fun way to share it with our surrounding community,” said Parkside PTA president Katie Howard. “And what a great, relaxing way to enjoy the cooler weather as we kick-off Fall Break.”
Speaking of fall, mark your calendar for the Parkside Fall Festival to be held on October 24 from 10:00am until 2:00pm. More details will follow in the next Porch Press.
The school is located on Mercer Street between Eloise Street and Waldo Avenue. For more information on Parkside, please call 404-802-4100, visit us at www.atlanta.k12.ga.us/parkside, or follow on www.Facebook.com/ParksideAPS.
