Great Pumpkin Hunt in Grant Park

By Marie Mower
The Grant Park Conservancy is excited to host the “Great Pumpkin Hunt” and Halloween Trick or Treating in Grant Park for everyone who wants to come. This will be a fun, family event bringing many together for a good time in the park. Are you one of those people who drive a long distance to a pumpkin farm for the joy of watching your child find a pumpkin? This time the pumpkin patch will come to Grant Park and can save you hours of driving. Better yet, your child will be able to paint the pumpkin they find! The best part will be “treating for candy” in the park. As the pumpkin dries, children can walk around to grab candy from the costumed characters lurking about–some will be cute and some spooky.
The Pumpkin Hunt is $3 per child and a bag of candy. Pre-registration will guarantee a pumpkin and the bag of candy will be collected at the beginning of the event. Let’s make sure there is plenty of candy!
This event is in the planning phase at the time of this writing and details will be posted on the Grant Park Conservancy’s website. In the meantime, visit the Conservancy’s table at the Sunday Farmer’s Market (Grant Park) to register. You can also send your registration in the mail to: Grant Park Conservancy, PO Box 89189, Atlanta, GA 30312. Include your full name, age of each child, payment, and phone number and/or email to contact you prior with the exact location in the park. Providing each of your child’s age helps with pumpkin size selection. There are plans for an area for younger children with pumpkins closer and smaller to handle. The older children will have “hidden” pumpkins and a special pumpkin for a lucky winner.
