Cosmo Whyte, the art teacher at Burgess Peterson Academy in East Atlanta, has again gathered work from some of the school’s best artists. They will be featured on the Gallery Wall at the East Atlanta Library. The show, sponsored by Friends of East Atlanta Library, opened in April and will be on display through mid-May.
The work ranges from portraits to landscapes, quilts and still lifes. There are also several African masks that were done by accomplished fifth graders. The artists include: Camari Bennings, James Brazzell, Leila Burgess, Braelyn Bynum, Gorgeus Ferguson, Teagan Fore, Jeremiah Freener, Samson hall, Terron Joiner, Taneka Jones Aarlesha McCullum, Johnnie Scott, Kamesha Tucker, and Jarrell Williams.
Art may be viewed during regular library hours. Since it is in the meeting room, program attendees enjoy the artwork when they are there, but anyone can be admitted to see it by asking at the circulation desk.
Also on display this month in the children’s area of the library are “Koi Fish” windsocks designed and crafted by ninth graders at Maynard Jackson High School on Glenwood in Grant Park. The school of colorful fish will be swimming atop the bookshelf until the middle of May.
