Baby Love Offers a Breastfeeding Support Group

By Lauren Hise
New mothers have many questions and concerns about breastfeeding in the weeks leading up to and after birth. Baby Love’s new support group is a wonderful way to exchange information and experiences, and ask questions or voice concerns. Its also a great reason to get out of the house and talk to other mothers in the same stage of parenthood. Even if you’re not breastfeeding, you are welcome to join and talk about any of your cares and concerns of the health of you and your new baby.
Kelly Hightower leads the group. She is a Registered Nurse and has a background in labor/delivery and pediatric nursing. She is also a Certified Lactation Counselor, HypnoBirthing Practitioner/Childbirth Educator, and Certified Doula.
The Breastfeeding Support Group is FREE and takes place at Baby Love, 465 Boulevard, on the first Friday of each month at 11:00am.
Baby Love also offers a Breastfeeding Essentials Workshop. Just as childbirth education classes prepare you for what to expect on birthing day, a prenatal breastfeeding class prepares you to embrace your new role as a breastfeeding family. Being proactive and educated can be the key to successful breastfeeding. During our one-day 3-hour breastfeeding class, you and your partner will learn about preparing to breastfeed, how breastfeeding works, how to establish a good milk supply, hunger cues in your baby, how to get your baby to latch, how to know if your baby is getting enough milk, positions for breastfeeding, pumping and storing, common challenges, and when and where to get help should you need it. This class is offered Sunday, September 16, 2:00pm-5:00pm and Sunday, October 28, 2:00-5:00pm for $75/couple.
