A Homegrown Company Is Expanding, Welcoming a New Firm to Southeast Atlanta

By Shannon Sanders
Celebrating 10 years as the top boutique real estate firm in Southeast Atlanta, the Red Robin Group has been synonymous with real estate in Grant Park, Ormewood Park, and East Atlanta since 2007. You may know Principal Broker/Owner Melissa Wakamo as a neighbor, a real estate agent, or a sponsor/participant of community events and organizations.
A little birdie told us some exciting news: Red Robin Group and Keller Knapp Realty, two intown real estate firms, merged this spring. The two firms will combine their resources. “We’re very excited to welcome Keller Knapp Realty to the neighborhood,” Wakamo said.
“With this announcement, it is important for my community to know that Red Robin Group is not leaving the neighborhood. Our agents will continue to operate as a real estate sales team, under the Red Robin Group brand, maintaining focus on the growing markets in southeast and southwest Atlanta neighborhoods,” Wakamo stressed. “Keller Knapp Realty has strong recognition in neighborhoods north of I-20.   So, this merger is really about aligning two great companies that share common business values. It was important for me to know that providing exceptional service to our local clients and commitment to the community would remain a top priority.”
Keller Knapp Realty has experienced rapid growth since 2009, with sales increasing from $25 million to $300 million in 2016. “To help manage our growth, we looked at firms with strong marketing, training, and management systems in place, systems that we could bring to Keller Knapp. We feel we found the perfect partnership with Red Robin Group,” said Weslee Knapp, principal broker of Keller Knapp Realty.
“Weslee and I have known each other for many years, and for both of us, it is essential that we do business the right way, acting on what is best for our clients and agents.  And like Red Robin Group, Keller Knapp supports and gives back to its community by sponsoring various neighborhood organizations and events” Wakano said. At Keller Knapp Realty, Wakamo will focus on her areas of strength and passion, which lie in marketing, management, and agent training.
Keller Knapp Realty now will feature three offices in growing intown Atlanta markets (Decatur/Oakhurst, Midtown, and southeast Atlanta) with more than 100 agents. “Geographically, the Red Robin Group office in southeast Atlanta is a natural extension for Keller Knapp.  It is one of the fastest-growing markets in Atlanta, and we will be well-positioned for strong growth,” said Knapp. “With that said, we will continue to maintain our company as a boutique firm, and ensure that we keep a culture that feels like we’re a family.  We’re excited to become a part of the southeast Atlanta neighborhoods.”
