The August BATL organization tour will be a new Battle of Atlanta in Reverse Tour – from finish to start and back again. It will also be a little more of a city hike than any of the current hikes which are more like leisurely strolls. “Battle Backwards” will take place on Saturday, August 26 at 4:30pm. It will retrace not only a portion of the Union front lines but also a portion of the Confederate march. Advance reservations are required. Info and tickets are available at www.batlevent.org.
The tour will traverse about 5 miles and cover the Battle of Atlanta’s final moments back to the entry points for challenging the Confederates as they moved to initiate the battle. Of course, the lead-up to the battle will also be covered. Along the way the tour will visit several sites important to the battle and others important to neighborhood history as well.
