The Grant Park Parent Network (GPPN) is pleased to sponsor the Kids Art Fun Mix at the Arts Exchange at 750 Kalb Street on Sunday, July 22, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. The artist reception and gallery show will be the following day, Monday, July 23, from 5:00pm until 6:30pm. Children from all neighborhoods aged 3 and older are invited.
The 5 and older group will each create a sculpture with former art teacher and current full-time artist Jaynie Gillman Crimmins (www.jayniecrimmins.com). Her expertise will guide the children to create their own masterpiece in a fun environment using toy pieces.
The younger group of 3- and 4-year-olds can participate with a fun artsy craft led by teacher-artist Eliza Adams (in a separate space). This activity does not require parents to stay unless they prefer to. If that is the case, assistance is greatly appreciated.
Each child 5 and older will need to bring their own low-temperature glue gun or purchase one at the class for $8.00. Pre-registration is required and the cost is $5.00 per child to be collected that day. Please register by visiting Events on Facebook at Grant Park Parents Network or send an email to mgpmower@yahoo.com. Space is limited to 25.
Donations of toy pieces to use are being collected until July 22. The little artists will experience the creative process all the way to an art exhibition. Children’s art exhibitions are a great way to encourage and celebrate children’s creativity. The Arts Exchange is the perfect place since many artists create art there and shows are held in the gallery.
If you aren’t online, please call 404-434-6022. If you have an assortment of toy pieces (blocks, trains, little dolls, popular characters, balls, dinosaurs, animals, instruments, cars, beads, Legos, etc.) to donate, please contact the GPPN.
