We Want Your Books!

By Katina VanCronkhite
Is it time to give all those good books piling up in your bookshelves and overflowing your closets a new home? Well, Friends of East Atlanta Library (FEAL) is looking for a lot of gently read books for its big annual fundraising book sale during the EAV Strut on September 21. The group is accepting book donations now at the East Atlanta Library as long as they are free of mold and cat hair and in fair condition.
Many genres are popular at the sale, especially children’s books and new adult fiction and non-fiction titles. This year new hardback titles will sell for $2 each and older hardback titles for $1. All paperbacks are 50 cents. DVD donations are also welcome.
Money raised at the FEAL book sale primarily helps fund children’s programming and the widely circulated book collections. Library budget cuts over the past few years have eliminated funding for children’s programming. With East Atlanta’s growing number of younger families with children, maintaining the library’s great programs and activities has become one of FEAL’s top priorities.
You may bring your books to the circulation desk at the library anytime during regular library hours. If you are interested in becoming a member of FEAL, pick up a brochure and membership form at the circulation desk. If you would like to volunteer to help sort books before the sale (with a chance to get a first peak at the offerings) or work on the day of the book sale, please contact FEAL at friendsofeal@gmail.com.
