Ox and Greg
If you’ve ever loved one pug, you’ve basically loved them all. Despite their individual differences, the thread that ties them back to their origins as companions to Chinese emperors is strong. These two Grant Park residents, Ox and Greg Lunsford, make their ancestors proud by excelling at their only job of being in constant contact with their human charges.
We, their humans, John and Kristin, moved to Grant Park in the summer of 2022, bringing Ox with us from Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. After deciding that Ox would love a little brother to play with, we found an 18-month-old gremlin named Greg on the FL/GA Pug Rescue page and added him to the family. Upon the receipt of a baby velociraptor brother, Ox decided he was too distinguished of an elder gentleman to play anymore; the pair have been best frenemies ever since.
If they aren’t fighting over a bully stick or who gets prime position on a lap, they are snuggled up together, snoring up a storm. They are living their best lives when the humans have a party and there are many more humans in attendance to pay attention to them and sneak them food.
Ox’s biggest joys in life are breakfast, dinner and treats, bully sticks, belly rubs, visitors, naps, rubbing his eye boogies on his humans’ clothes, and destroying toys so Greggy can’t play with them. He hates: the rain, walking up hills, nail trims, and every second he’s not eating something.
Greg, being the least food-motivated pug John and I have ever met, has a different set of priorities. He loves playing tug and fetch with toys, burrowing under blankets, barking at the TV, licking everything, giving Ox grief every chance he gets, and lounging on a pool float. He hates being cold, not being in physical contact with one of his humans at all times, the audacity of squirrels and birds to exist in his world, and loud noises.
Above all, these boys love attention. So, if you ever see me or John out walking two goofy pugs around the neighborhood, and you’re brave enough to get set upon by two 20-pound goblins, come say hi!
