The Atlanta Beltline Running Series announces its fourth annual Atlanta Beltline Southwest 5k that will take place on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 7:30 a.m. at Gordon White Park, 1350 Ralph David Abernathy Blvd SW, Atlanta, GA, 30310, along the Atlanta BeltLine Southwest Trail and through the Historic West End and Westview neighborhoods. This event is one of the last opportunities to experience the Southwest Biking Trail before construction begins on the Westside Trail.
The Atlanta BeltLine Running Series has become popular for its featured challenges that engage runners and walkers in fun, friendly competition. The Southwest 5K will feature the Southwest Sizzlin’ Team Challenge, where teams representing local businesses, schools, non-profits, run clubs, friends, neighborhoods and beyond compete for a $500 cash purse.
The Atlanta Beltline Southwest 5k will also include art exhibits, such as the West End Remembers mural on White Street; team challenges, with awards to the fastest team, the largest team and the most spirited team; fun, creatively-designed t-shirts, and custom-designed, collectible award coasters. This is a dog and stroller-friendly course.
“It’s inspiring to see the community engaging so wholeheartedly in the Atlanta BeltLine Running Series and other fitness activities,” said Atlanta BeltLine Partnership Interim Executive Director Rob Brawner. “As more and more of our running events are attended by hundreds and thousands of Atlantans, and trails are filled with runners, walkers, cyclists and beyond, we are making a tangible impact on community health in Atlanta.”
Registration is $30 for the Atlanta BeltLine Southwest 5K. Additional information is available at BeltLine.org/run.
