Small Business Saturday, a yearly occurrence set to coincide with the beginning of the holiday shopping season, is returning to the EAV (East Atlanta Village) business district on Saturday, November 25. The East Atlanta Business Association (EABA), supporting the national event on the local front, wants you to think about how you can support a small and local business in East Atlanta, that day, and every day. Founded by American Express in 2010 and officially co-sponsored by SBA since 2011, Small Business Saturday has become an important part of small businesses’ busiest shopping season.
Every time you buy from the neighborhood coffee shop, grab a gift from a local store, eat at a your favorite EAV restaurant or purchase the services from a locally owned business, you are not only helping that business, but affecting positive change here in East Atlanta.
Did you know that about 70% of every dollar you spend in the community stays in the community? When you eat at a locally-owned restaurant, you keep the neighborhood culture and cuisine vibrant. If you are looking for an electrician or a car detail, the Village has a number of local experts and skilled workers.
When you are not shopping, you can still make a difference by giving your favorite businesses a shout-out online. Your recommendation could introduce someone to their new favorite spot. Or you could give a great review. Good reviews are golden for small businesses. If you loved the service, the food, the employee, tell your friends and neighbors.
Supporting local business isn’t just about the goods and services; it’s about investing in East Atlanta’s economy, jobs, and community. So yes, come out on Small Business Saturday, but come out every day, every month, every season, and support the distinctive community that we treasure.
