Update from Fulton County Commissioner Natalie Hall’s Office: Meetings – Commissioner Hall’s future meetings will be held at 141 Pryor Street. Community Outreach – Staff hours at Oak Hill Child Center will be on Tuesdays and Thursday from 9:30am to 5:30pm. Commercial Property Appraisals – Attendees expressed a desire to receive a formal response to SAND’s letter regarding the differences between property tax assessments for residential and commercial/luxury properties.
Matters for Voting
Land Use Applications: 23-O-1003 (Z-23-22)– Beltline Overlay -citywide. Amended Ordinance proposal to establish parking maximums and eliminate parking minimums within the BeltLine overlay district, with some exceptions for EACA result pending commercial food preparation, delivery based commercial (ghost) kitchens, and eating/drinking establishments. LUZ passed a motion to approve. A motion was made to support the motion approved by NPU-W LUZ Committee the motion failed with 3 In Favor, 6 Opposed, 1 Abstention. A SUBSTITUTE MOTION was made: We do not support the ordinance because of the removal of the only incentive given by the City of Atlanta for residential developers to provide affordable housing. The motion failed with a vote of 3 In Favor and 7 Opposed. A SUBSTITUTE MOTION was made: Take no position with an explanation by the SAND President at the NPU General Body meeting. The motion passed 7 In Favor, 2 Opposed, and 1 Abstention.
Community Updates
There was a robust discussion on how to hold meetings going forward: virtual, in person, hybrid or some combination. There was general agreement that periodic in person meetings would be appreciated, but monthly in-person was more than most attendees wanted. There was also a discussion of where to hold the in person meetings. A proposal to change the start time for SAND meetings from 7:30 to 7:00 generated much community input and a decision was made to send out a poll.
