Parkside Teams Up With Trees Atlanta

By Carol McCannon
Parkside Elementary School teamed up with Trees Atlanta on Saturday, March 20, 2012 to plant 89 trees around the school grounds and surrounding streets.  Students, staff, parents, neighbors, and community volunteers came out in full force to learn how to properly plant and take care of all different kinds of trees including White Oaks, Trident Maples, Ann Magnolias, and many more.  They planted trees on Mercer, Waldo, and Hansell Streets. The school and neighborhood will benefit from the efforts of these volunteers for decades to come. Kindergarten student Shannon Smith, summed it up best when she said, “Today we made our world prettier.”
