Students at Parkside Elementary School celebrated Earth Day by sprucing up their environment. Pre-K and Kindergarten children spent the morning of April 22 planting flowers all over the school ground. Their colorful blooms have brightened up planter boxes around the playground and the front entrance as well as lots of new flowers around the sign in front of the school. Students also weeded and worked in the raised bed vegetable gardens and herb gardens on the side and in back of the school. Students potted their own tomato plants to take home or plant in the schools garden. The topic of the day was planting, recycling, reducing, and reusing.
Also, mark your calendars for other upcoming events at the school including: May 16, Pre-K promotion; May 16, Robotics Club trip to Hyundai plant in Alabama; May17 and 18, Multicultural/International Days; May 19 and 20, Field Days; May 21, Third Annual Boys Speaking Competition; May 23, Awards Day; and May 24, 5th grade promotion.
