The Ormewood Church Rummage Sale is back for its second year on March 6 and March 7. The Church’s Fellowship Hall is expected to be filled to the brim with gently used items for enthusiastic thrifters.
Shoppers can expect clothing, shoes, jewelry, accessories, books, toys and games, kitchenware, home decor, furniture, electronics, tools, outdoor items, and more. Most adult clothing costs $1.00, and children’s clothing is 50 cents. Other items are priced to sell. Proceeds from the sale go to support the church’s mission to cultivate a shared community of curiosity, spirituality, and belonging.
“Ormewood Church prides itself on being a hub of community for the Ormewood Park neighborhood, and the Rummage Sale is an extension of that mission,” said Rev. Jenelle Homes, pastor at Ormewood Church. “The Rummage Sale is a delightful mix of shopping and recycling and it’s just a lot of fun. We hope everyone comes to the sale!”
The Rummage Sale will be held from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm on Friday and Saturday. New this year are evening bonus hours on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. The sale will be held rain or shine, and local Girl Scout troops will be selling cookies.

“It was such a success last year that we made it an annual event. And this year we wanted to offer shopping time on Friday evening, hoping to catch the folks home from work who are out walking their dogs or hanging with neighbors,” Holmes said.
The church will collect donations for the Rummage Sale from March 1 through March 3. They ask that all donations be gently used and in good working order. The only items they will not accept are mattresses, cribs and car seats. The church is offering home pickup of large furniture donations in the afternoon on March 1. The pickup area is limited to the Porch Press coverage neighborhoods, and donors must email leslie.hast@gmail.com to make arrangements.
“Clean out your closets and clutter and drop it off at the church and then come back to buy new treasures!” Holmes said.
