The East Lake YMCA features two swimming pools. The large indoor pool is located on the main campus on East Lake Boulevard at Memorial Drive, not far from the Publix on Glenwood. Swimming lessons are offered there, and it is open year-round. The newer outdoor pool is located at the East Lake YMCA Teen and Aquatics Center.
The outdoor pool opened for the summer prior to Memorial Day Weekend. Hours are Monday through Saturday 11:00am to 7:15pm, with last-bather entry at 6:45pm. On Sunday, it is open from noon until 5:45pm, last entry at 5:15pm. There are 10-minute safety breaks at the top of each hour.
The East Lake Y has a guest policy for active members that allows them to bring one adult with picture ID and two children once a year. New this year is a no food policy. This is meant to help alleviate pool closures due to pump-and-system failures caused by foreign debris (pistachio shells, wrappers, and food) being sucked into the system. Drinks in plastic cups will be allowed. Also, to keep a clean (and open) pool, swim diapers or swim pants will be required for very young children. To maintain pool safety, there will be swim tests given during the breaks, and children will be given color-coded wrist bands according to their skill level.

Grant Park Pool: Open to all with no entrance fee, Monday to Friday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 12:30pm to 8:00pm. Adult-only early-bird swimming is available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 7:00am to 9:00pm in three or four lanes. Entrance fee sponsors are Discount Real Estate Brokers Atlanta and Hughes Dry Carpet Cleaning.
Glenwood Park Pool: Hours are announced to membership, which is limited to Glenwood Park residents at this time.
Martin Luther King Natatorium: Located in the Old 4th Ward just off Boulevard has been closed for nearly 4 years. It is scheduled to reopen a few blocks away on Hillard Street later this year.
Martin Luther King Middle School Indoor Pool: Located in Grant Park at 545 Hill Street, this is Atlanta’s only Atlanta Public School swimming pool. Students have access to the pool during the school year, and there are plans to have it open to the community as well. Hours are posted online as 6:00am to 8:30pm, but checking on requirements for access and summer hours before going is advised.
