Kick off Father’s Day Weekend with Father/Child Self Defense Seminar at Kick Start Martial Arts

By Betsy Helgager Hughes
Renard Beaty, Kick Start Martial Arts owner and 4th-degree Tang Soo Do black belt instructor and father to two girls, will host a unique Father’s Day event to help area fathers work with their children to learn self-defense techniques. The event will take place at Kick Start Martial Arts on Friday, June 17 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm, with sign-in at 6:15pm. The techniques taught will help children defend themselves against acts of violence or abduction whether they are going off to college, to the playground, or walking down the street. This event is designed as an introductory father/child educational and bonding experience to build trust and confidence in each other and in themselves.
“One of the greatest gifts a father can give his child is the ability to protect him/herself when he’s not around,” said Beaty. “Although this event is just the beginning of exposure to self-defense techniques, what you will learn, if practiced and reviewed, can last a lifetime and be applied when needed should circumstances require it.”
Kick Start Martial Arts is located at 749 Moreland Avenue, Suite 103. The cost is $10 per person. Register in advance at www.ksmartialartsatlanta.com or call (404) 664-3485. Space is limited. The event is intended for children age 6 and up only please; attendees are asked to wear comfortable attire.
