Come enjoy your neighborhood public outdoor pool this summer! The projected opening day for the Grant Park pool’s 2024 summer season is Memorial Day weekend on Saturday, May 25.
Building on last year’s successes, the City of Atlanta will continue to train and manage the lifeguard staff for its twelve outdoor public pools in 2024. Says City of Atlanta Aquatics Director Marcus Byams, “We’re looking forward to having a better year of service with trained staff and pool operations for the summer season.”
The switch to self-management, started in 2023, made a positive impact noticed by long-time pool attendees. “Last summer was the best in a long time in terms of being reliably open during scheduled hours, clean water, and being attentively staffed,” shares a pool patron. “The city has really turned things around.”
Planning a trip to the pool? Be aware that a clear bag policy was implemented in 2023 and will continue this year.
