Public Official Update: Jonathan Harris – Community Engagement Manager for Commissioner Natalie Hall in Fulton County District 4. He can be reached at 404-822-9165 (cell), 404-612-8259 (office) or jonathan.harris@fultoncountyga.gov.
The Board of Commissioners will meet 4/19. Part of the meeting will be dedicated to addressing major concerns around Fulton County jail. The Sheriff will be asking for funding to address cleanliness of the jail and continue those efforts, in addition to ordering new safety equipment that can detect narcotics and cell phones. The Sheriff has been working hard to release a report requesting emergency funding.
There’s also been a robust conversation around what healthcare looks like in Fulton County. Morehouse School of Medicine has become a partner and is looking at data to start addressing some of the healthcare issues facing the county. There will be next steps developed from the report.
There is a call for greater participation in the Youth Commission, an advocacy group of young adults in high school that have mock commission meetings and act as liaison between young demographic and commissioners. The application process is May 9-May 15.
Commissioner Hall continues to be an advocate in the community and has interest in doing a community clean up in Grant Park. She will be in front of the NPU meeting next month. She’s also been addressing key community issues like employment for youth in the summer and educational summer camp.
