On Saturday, May 3, everyone has a chance to start Pushing Up Daisies while they’re still alive and kicking; kicking up their heels, that is.
The Pushing Up Daisies garden tour and concert offers tours of East Atlanta’s most beautiful and interesting gardens from 11:00am to 3:00pm, and then invites attendees to party with food, drink, and live music at the historic Sylvester Cemetery from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. The cemetery is at the corner of Clifton Road and Braeburn Circle in the southeast corner of East Atlanta.
The gardens are still to be chosen, but two-thirds of the music lineup is set: Zoe Bayani and Flamingo Shadow will play at the cemetery. Bayani says she “draws inspiration from nostalgic ’70s Americana and ’90s Soft Grunge.” Flamingo Shadow describes its sound as “ATL tropical punk sweet as skunk.”
If you would like to nominate your East Atlanta garden, or the garden of someone you know in East Atlanta, please fill out the form at EastAtlantaStrut.com/garden-tour.
Tickets are $20 for the tour and concert, or $10 for just the concert. Your ticket includes a free drink at the cemetery bar. Food will be available from Coffyn Pyes and more vendors to come. Tickets and more information are available now at EastAtlantaStrut.com/garden-tour. There are also sponsorship and volunteer opportunities available.
New this year is the Pushing Up Daisies 5K, which will take off at 8:30am, before the garden tour begins, and is organized by East Atlanta Runs. Visit EastAtlantaRuns.com for registration and more information.
Proceeds from Pushing Up Daisies benefit the Sylvester Cemetery Foundation and the all-volunteer-run, nonprofit EAV Strut Inc.
