For many Americans, stretching a food budget can feel like a juggling act, balancing taste, nutrition, and the clock. With rising costs, it’s easy to fall back on drive-thru value menus and convenience foods. But eating well doesn’t always mean spending more money or time. Across the country there are cities and neighborhoods where good food is both affordable and an essential part of the local culture. According to a newly polled group of “foodies,” East Atlanta Village is one of them.
Advance America, a leading loan provider, recently surveyed 3,024 self-proclaimed “foodies” to identify the top U.S. cities and neighborhoods where eating well and eating affordably go hand in hand. Out of 110 neighborhoods across the country, East Atlanta Village made it to the list at number 18.
Here’s what they said.
“#18. East Atlanta Village, Atlanta
East Atlanta Village has built a reputation for variety and affordability. Its seasonal farmers market offers fresh, locally grown produce and artisanal goods, while the neighborhood’s restaurants and cafes keep healthy meals within easy reach. For those looking to eat well without overspending, it’s one of Atlanta’s liveliest options.”
While that by no means covers all the charms and vibrancy of East Atlanta Village’s many food options, it’s always great news when the hard work and amazing creativity of our local businesses is recognized, something the village neighbors have known for a long time.
“Eating well isn’t just about what’s on the plate; it’s about access, affordability, and real-life schedules,” says Laura McCutcheon, VP of Marketing at Advance America. These spots show that dining well doesn’t need to be complicated or costly, it just needs to be part of the community fabric.
And that’s another thing, besides tasty, reasonably priced, eating options, that East Atlanta is known for, community.
(Congratulations to Athens who came in number one on the list!)
