Fifth Annual Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School Yard Sale

By Sylvia Davis
Mark this on your calendar: One of Southeast Atlanta’s biggest and best yard sales of the year is coming up on Saturday, September 22 where you will see amazing finds.
Whether you’re searching for back-to-school clothes for the kids, best-selling books and DVDs for yourself, or gently used furniture for your home, you’ll find fantastic deals at the fifth annual Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School yard sale.
“Every year I’m astonished at the quantity and quality of the merchandise for sale. This is one I don’t want to miss,” says ANCS mom Melanie Regnier, an Ormewood Park resident.
Up to 400 families are expected to participate in the yard sale, which runs from 8:00am to 4:00pm at the Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School (ANCS) elementary campus at 688 Grant Street in Grant Park. (The sale will not extend to Sunday this year.) Proceeds will go to purchase classroom supplies and equipment for ANCS, a public school serving children in kindergarten through grade eight.
All kinds of household goods will be for sale, including clean children’s clothing, toys, shoes and book, housewares, furniture and appliances, kitchen items, and adult clothing. The fifth grade will sell baked goods during the yard sale to refresh hungry shoppers (and raise money for their annual trip to Blue Ridge, Georgia).
“There’s something for everyone at the yard sale, so there’s no excuse not to go” says Rebecca Earnshow, ANCS parent and chair of the event. “Why buy new when you can help the environment, help children in your community, and find great bargains, too?” she asks.
The yard sale is organized by ANCS’ Parent-Teacher Community Association, which aims to coordinate and promote parent, teacher and community involvement and communication in the school. For more information about ANCS, visit the school’s website at http://www.atlncs.org.
