Fall Festival Time at Parkside

By Rebecca Wallace
On Saturday, October 24, Parkside Elementary will hold its 11th Annual Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Fall Festival from 10:00am to 2:00pm. All students from Parkside (which serves Grant Park, Summerhill, Boulevard Heights, Ormewood Park, and Cabbagetown) will receive 10 free tickets to participate in a variety of activities, as well as a free Panda Meal, which includes a hotdog and drink. Parkside is able to offer this to its students because of the generous support of the school’s sponsors. Open to the entire community, the Fall Festival will feature a variety of other food items for purchase. Additional tickets will also be available for purchase. All proceeds will benefit the Parkside PTA.
“The weather chased us inside last year, but we still had an incredible turnout with folks from all over the community,” said Parkside principal Caitlin Sims. “This year we’re hoping for a crisp fall day so that we can enjoy the spacious Parkside grounds.”
Festival goers will enjoy bounce houses, a video gaming truck, a petting zoo, face painting, and more. Other activities will include carnival-style games with prizes run by the teachers and parent volunteers, as well as a DJ spinning tunes for an old-school dance party.
The Parkside community would like to thank its partners – the neighborhood businesses, organizations, and community leaders that are sponsoring numerous PTA events this school year, including 3 Parks Wine Shop, Adams Realtors, Agave, Body Well Chiropractor, Doc Chey’s, Georgia Therapy, Intown Atlanta Speech Therapy, Intown Pediatrics, Intown Stars Gymnastics, ISU Paragon (formerly Holcomb Insurance), Preferred After School, Relish Salon, Round Here Renovations, Six Feet Under, Atlanta City Council Member Carla Smith, Snap Fitness, Stone Soup Kitchen, Vickery’s, and Ziba’s Bistro.
Parkside Elementary School, located at 685 Mercer Street in Grant Park, is reflective of the diverse community it serves. More information is available at www.Facebook.com/ParksidePTA.
