On Thursday, March 28, the East Atlanta Village Farmer’s Market (EAVFM) returns to the Village at 572 Stokeswood Avenue. Per usual, it will open from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, every Thursday, through late November. Rain or shine, your favorite farmers and vendors are back, as well some fresh faces. Find kid-friendly activities at the info booth, see, and interact with a live chef demo and taste free samples, listen to music, grab dinner, and hang out with your neighbors. As always, DOUBLE your EBT/SNAP dollars, accepted at the EAVFM, no cap, no expirations, simply good food for all. Please tell your neighbors.
In 2024, there are plans to have three to four farmers selling fruits, veggies, mushrooms, herbs, and flowers, as well as bakers with fresh bread, pastries, and sweets, three to four hot food/dinner options offering a variety of cuisines, from falafel to donburi, vegan and GF options, fresh juices and spice blends, crafts, candles, and sustainable refillable goods. The regular schedule of events are already in the works. EAVrth Day Farmers Market on April 18, the 4th annual Plant 2 Plate sale event in partnership with Wholesome Wave Georgia, Love is Love Farm, and Food Well Alliance are planned. This event serves the community by providing a large variety of organically grown plants while also informing and reminding emphasizing to all those using SNAP/EBT benefits that they can use their double dollars on food-bearing plants, to grow their own garden at home.
EAVFM is excited to continue partnering with EACA (East Atlanta Community Association), A Sip of Paradise garden, Cryptid Creatives, EABA (East Atlanta Business Association), InTown Cares, EAPN (East Atlanta Parent’s Network), Lauren Ladov and Grantlanta for landscaping, the community farmers market space all through 2024. More community sponsors and participants are always welcome to share, celebrate, and maintain the market grounds.
The EAV Farmers Market needs your support this year, more than ever. Like so many non-profits, its budget has been cut, making weekly live musicians and the kid’s table with $5 fruit/veggie incentive in danger of being cut from this year’s lineup. Both programs make a small, but significant part of the big beating heart of this market, even, and especially, on rainy days.
