Community Input Needed

By Steve Carr

A Community Benefits Agreement (CBA) will be included in the ownership transfer documents of this 25-plus- acre property owned by the Intrenchment Creek Coalition, Inc. A CBA is usually a contract between a developer and a county or municipality outlining the subsidies and/or approvals that the local government will provide the project or development. In exchange for providing community benefits, developers would get support for their project.

However, the City of Atlanta will probably acquire portions or perhaps all of the property, this proposed CBA will also govern future uses and/or developmental recommendations.

Possible CBA suggestions could include:

•  Parks and recreation to include soccer fields

•  Community gardens

•  BeltLine-PATH trails from Boulevard Crossing Park to South DeKalb County’s Michelle Obama Park and South River

•  Roundabouts and pedestrian hawk-system crossings at Custer Avenue and Boulevard at Englewood Avenue for the above trails

•  Affordable housing

•  Child-care center

•  Pre-school academy

•  Wayfarer and memorial signage

•  Historical monuments

•  Sculptures

•  A permanent tri-community (Benteen Park, Boulevard Heights, and Chosewood Park) planning, design, and oversite conservancy

Please give your CBA suggestions to Steve Carr, representing Intrenchment Creek Coalition, at 678-886-8666. If you live in the Porch Pressarea, your input is desired.
