For Atlantans, in addition to the presidential election, their November ballot will include a special election for City Council, Post 3 At Large and the election of Distirct 3 Dekalb commissioner. We will be voting to replace Keisha Waites, who resigned in the middle of her first term on the Council to run for Fulton County Clerk. Her replacement will serve the remaining year of her term and may stand for re-election in the City election in 2025. This is a non-partisan race. Try not to get weary of elections, just make it a habit.
According to Axios, the candidates are:
Devin Barrington-Ward: See www.blackfuturistsgroup.com/staff. He recently ran for City Council in the 9th district.
Eshe Collins: Seee collinsforatlanta.com. She is an attorney and former APS teacher who has served on the Atlanta Board of Education since 2013.
Amber Connor: See amberforatlanta.com. She is a business owner and community organizer with the Buckhead Council of Neighborhoods.
Nicole Evans Jones: See nicoleevansjonesforatlanta.com. She is a former school principal and veteran educator.
