EABA General Meeting. Tuesday, August 20, 6:00pm-8:00pm. Argosy (in the Brig), 470 Flat Shoals Avenue. Join the East Atlanta Business Association at this month’s general meeting as outreach initiatives in and around East Atlanta will be highlighted. Programs such as Intown Cares, Blessing Bags of Warmth, Georgia Works, East Atlanta Kids Club and Bagel Rescue (among others)are doing amazing work to foster a culture of care and support for those in need within our community. Want to know more about these organizations and what they need from us as small business owners and community members? All EABA meetings are free and open to the public and include sponsored food and drinks.  This month’s sponsors are Argosy, Coffyn Pyes and Peachtree Dog Training. This month’s featured businesses with giveaways and raffles are Carlen Hultgren of RPM Home Advisors and Peachtree Dog training. 

Grant Park Summer Shade Festival. August 24-25. Annual music and art festival in Grant Park, to benefit the Grant Park Conservancy, with regional and local artists, live performances, and food vendors. https://summershadefestival.org.

EAPN Wet and Wild at Brownwood Park. Sunday, August 25, 3:00pm-5:00pm. 602 Brownwood Avenue. Let’s make a splash with water play! There will be water blasters, water balloons, water sensory tables, sprinklers and small kiddie pools. We’ll be passing out free Kona Ice to keep cool, and Red’s will be selling delicious hot dogs! 

Brownwood Bike Rally. Saturday, September 14, 8:00am-1:00pm. Brownwood Park, 602 Brownwood Avenue. The Brownwood Bike Rally returns for it’s 20th year to support the East Atlanta Kids Club. EAV Strut 5K. Saturday, September 28, 8:30am-11:00am. Starts at Village Fitness, 1231 Glenwood Avenue. Presented by East Atlanta Runs and EAV Main Street in conjunction with the East Atlanta Strut. For more info, go to EastAtlantaBiz.com and click the events tab for registration.

East Atlanta Strut. East Atlanta Village. Saturday September 28, 11:00am-6:00pm. Join your neighbors and friends for 26th annual East Atlanta Strut. The morning starts with a 5K and the parade starts the festival at 11:00am. Music, games, food, drink and fun for the whole family will be spread around the Village. This is a FREE event for all to enjoy. Volunteers are needed.

Benteen Park Fall Fest. Saturday, October 26, 11:00am-6:00pm. Benteen Park, 1410 Cassanova Street. The event will feature an artist market, food vendors, and live music.

East Atlanta Library

Ongoing Events

East Atlanta Business Association (EABA) General Meeting. 3rd Tuesday of the month, 6:00pm-8:00pm, includes socializing, snacks, the meeting, and 1⁄2 hour set aside for networking. East Atlanta Chess Club. Meetings every Wednesday at Branan Towers, 1200 Glenwood Avenue. Weekly rated tournament 6:00pm-10:00pm, and free play for those players who want to play casually. All ages and skill levels are welcome. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

EAV Farmers Market. 572 Stokeswood Avenue, 4:00pm-8:00pm. Local farmers and vendors bring their wares every Thursday afternoon. Shop, eat, socialize.

Grant Park Farmers Market. 1040 Grant Street (The Beacon). Sundays, 9:00am-1:00pm, year-round (closed between Christmas and New Year’s Day).

Grant Park Conservancy, Project G.R.A.N.T. (Greenspace Restoration and Neighborhood Teamwork). Second Saturday of every month. Choose from the morning session, 9:00am-12:00pm, or the 1:30pm-4:30pm afternoon session. To sign up, see www.gpconservancy.org.  Project G.R.A.N.T. Work Days – September 14th 9am – 11am.  

NEIGHBORHOOD WALKING TOURS

Walking Tour – History and Change on the BeltLine. Eastside Trail. 2nd Saturday of the month, 9:00am-10:30am. Meet at picnic tables behind Parish restaurant and end at Ponce City Market. Sign up at www.treesatlanta.org.

BATL Walking Tours – Civil War Battle of Atlanta. Various Sunday afternoons each month in the Porch Press neighborhoods. 3:00pm in March and 2:00pm the rest of the year.
