Southeast Atlanta! We are proud to share that Benteen Elementary has been in a whirlwind of achievements and growth. As we are in the midst of the 2025-2026 school year, we’re buzzing with excitement to share all the good stuff happening!
Last year, our amazing teachers and staff have been on a mission to make learning super fun and effective. They have rolled out some very cool, innovative teaching methods that have boosted our students’ performance across the board. With some of the latest tech gadgets in our classrooms, learning has morphed into a new adventure, prepping our kiddos for a tech-savvy future. In addition, our dynamic after-school programs have exploded with new options in arts, sports, and STEM; there is something for every student at Benteen.
This year, the foundation has applied for various grants, raised money for field trips and after-school enrichment, and even donated sound equipment to the arts program. We have had support from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation and redefinED, and our outdoor-classroom proposal earned high marks from the GOLD Grant review panel.
Looking ahead, we’re all about keeping the momentum going and creating even more amazing experiences for our students. We are glad to expand our field trips and hands-on learning opportunities because we know that real-world experiences are key to our students’ growth. To make this happen, we’re reaching out to local businesses and community members for support.
This is also where the Benteen Foundation comes in. Founded in 2019, the Benteen Foundation is run entirely by parent and community volunteers dedicated to enhancing the educational experience at Benteen Elementary. The foundation bridges the gap between student needs and available resources, making sure all students have the tools to thrive. Funds are raised through donations, and 100% of the funds stay within the school for continued academic engagement and student support.
Fast-forward… The Benteen Foundation needs you now more than ever! Many of our current volunteers have moved on, so we’re looking for more parents and community members to join us. The foundation meets about once a month and communicates informally via email and text.
We would love for local businesses to join us in making a difference in the lives of our brilliant students. As a community, we can create a nurturing environment that empowers our children, brings our community closer, and encourages the kiddos to reach for the stars.
