Walker Davis has been an artist and creative person all his life. His art will be on display at the gallery wall of the East Atlanta Library with an opening reception Friday night October 20, starting at 6:00pm. (See “Spooky Art Party” elsewhere in this issue). While his artwork will be on display, visitors can ask at the circulation desk for access during the library’s regular hours.
Walker’s paintings and illustrations use bold color and brushstrokes to explore ideas of classic 1950s pop art, but the subject matter is given a modern perspective with juxtaposition of vintage horror and sci-fi aesthetics, rock ‘n’ roll, as well as an exploration of sexuality and gender roles.
In addition to painting, Walker is also actively involved in musical theatre performance. He has performed on stage in more than 30 musicals and plays in the Atlanta area and elsewhere. He has even written a couple of original stage plays.
“My primary goal in life is to share my gifts and talents with the world and to lead a creative life that’s filled with love, art, and passion,” says Walker. Visitors to the reception will not only get to see his artwork but will get to meet him and learn more about his technique and thought processes. The art will be on display through early December and may be there until early January. Watch for an end date in next month’s Porch Press.
