Write-Right Literacy Program Offers Free Classes

By Daphany Williams-DuBois

Daphany’s Free Online Writing Workshop Inc., located in the Grant Park area, is offering a free online literacy program for anyone in the community who did not finish high school and is seeking to earn a GED. The Write-Right Literacy Program spring semester begins on February 16. Classes are taught through an online platform, so participants can learn and prepare for their GED right at home from their smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer.

Classes are taught every Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm ET to 8:30pm ET. Mandatory group tutoring sessions will be held on Thursday evenings from 6:30pm ET to 8:30pm ET. Participants must be U.S. citizens age 18 or older who do not currently have a GED or high school diploma. The program offers preparation for the Reasoning Through Language Arts portion of the GED exam. This free online literacy program offers a $200 financial reward scholarship and free grocery gift cards to help program participants who experience food insecurity challenges. Life happens, but it is never too late to get a GED. To register, please complete the application at dfoww.org/write-right-literacy-program-application.
