Did you know we have a “Best of Atlanta” dance class right here in our neighborhood? If you are into dance or want to get back into it, be sure to check out the Adult & Youth Contemporary class at Dance 411 Studios.
The Adult & Youth Contemporary dance class is a fusion of jazz and ballet and works to develop the style and technique of each individual dancer. Beginning with stretches, the class focuses on improvisation and storytelling. Think about the TV programs So You Think You Can Dance and The Next Step and you will get a picture of some of the movements the dancers utilize. Dancers round out the time with a combination that comes from techniques learned during the session.
“Contemporary dance is flowy and it feels like I’m expressing words through my movement in the dance,” said youth dancer Emma Hartley. “The improv portion of class teaches me how to allow the music to flow through me and be creative on the spot.”
This intermediate to advance class is held every Monday from 8:00pm to 9:15pm, for ages 13 and older. Classes are $20 drop-in but can also be taken as part of the Dance Dimensions & Youth Membership.
Want to learn more about this class or others like it? You can visit the Dance 411 Studios website at http://www.Dance411Studios.com, call Dance 411 Studios at 404-662-4110, or just drop by the studio at 475 Moreland Avenue.
